DJ Unknown
An interview with DJ Unknown from 1999.
Name: Classified
Age: Can't remember
How did you start out in the scene?
I started by going to parties such as Obsession, Vision, Swing and
Mythology. I was already interested in the music and had my first
pair of technics by the age of 16! I then hired a studio with a
friend an made a track called DJs Unknown - hence the name.
How would you describe your music style?
Varied, depending on where I am playing. I only play music that I like,
but I vary my set depending on where I am.
Without a doubt, the scene has changed over the last two years, and
some would say it has deteriorated. What are your views?
I don't think the scene has deteriorated, just changed, some will say
for the better, some for the worse. My opinion is that the
Hardcore scene is looked upon by the media as the only place within club
culture where drugs exist. Yes there are drugs at Hardcore parties
but no more than at local night clubs.
My overall opinion is that if people supported the scene more, rather
than putting it down, it would do a lot better.
In which direction would you like to see the scene go?
I am not a huge fan of the vocal orientated that has been dominating the
scene, although I do like some of it. Its good to have a bit of
variety and I think it's become that not every fucking tune has some
two-bit girl trying in vain to sing!
Maximum respect to DJ Unknown for taking time out for the Obsessed
crew! |
