DJ Ham Profile

DJ Ham first discovered Hardcore back in 1990,  at the age of 14.   He listen to pirate radio stations like Pulse FM.

"I loved this new sound that was so different to any music up until that point.   The early 90's was one of the most experimental times in Hardcore's history with some fantastic music being made, a lot of which is still played now. At the time, everybody was into Hardcore and it was absolutely massive. It was a fantastic time in my life that I still think about now and still reminisce about with my mates."

"I knew from that point I wanted to be a DJ.   At the time it was a very open scene because it was so new and not yet established in the mainstream. Everyone wanted to be involved in some way because that was the spirit. Some threw parties, some ran radio stations, some did magazines and others wanted to make tracks and become DJs. I initially wanted to just be a DJ but as I have always had a musical side to me, making tracks was a natural progression as well.

"My first gigs were for Labyrinth in Dalston in 1994.   I did get nervous as I'd never played in a club before,  I didn't really understand what was involved or what could go wrong.      I played my set, with tracks like, Ray Keith - XLR8 and Slipmatt - Breaking Free and things went well.

And his career didn't look back from there.......
