DJ Cruze Profile

It all started from hearing a Carl Cox rave tape back in 1992,  I knew then I wanted to DJ.  1993 was the first experience I had of playing out,  this was at a local bar playing tunes which would now be classed as Old Skool.

This continued for about four years playing around the area until 1997, then cam a residency at a hardcore night called "Entity" where I played alongside the like of Sy, Dougal, Vibes and Mark EG to name a few.

In 1999 I won a set at "Helterskelter" as a breaking new talent DJ which was an amazing experience.   Shortly after this my musical taste changed more towards Trance,  so I concentrated on this style finding inspiration from artists such as Lang, Ferry Corsten and Matt Darey.  This let to me co-running a new night called lift which ran weekly until Summer 2003.

The next couple of years were great for me,  my DJing and promoting started to get recognised and I was playing out on a regular basis.   December 2001 saw me promote my biggest event to date.   "Cheeky Chocolate", an Old Skool night that featured Mistress Mo from Flashback.  This month also saw me get to the final six in the Midlands DJ Mixing Competition which was covered by the local press.

2002 saw me once again playing Hardcore.   The music now had the Trance and uplifting element that I loved so much,  with a faster harder kick.  it was not long before I hooked up with DJ Wiggi and was made a resident for "Organised Chaos" (a massive under 18s event) playing Hardcore.  This really helped me get back into the scene and meet key people.  This then let to further bookings from "Vinyl Fantasy" in Portsmouth, "Radiation" in Telford,  "Lost the Plot" in Stafford,  "Nitebreed" in Grantham, "Neo" in Birmingham amongst many others.

2003 couldn't have started off better,  regular bookings alongside hardcore heavy weights like Brisk, Scott Brown and Sharkey.  To add to this my Hardcore and Old Skool radio show was launched on The Bridge Walsall in February 2003.  This show has been very popular and helped build my name.  This year also saw the launch of my Free Hardcore event "Cruze-In" which did eight well supported events.

2004 was my most successful and memorable year as a DJ so far,   there was hardly a weekend without any DJ Bookings.  August 28th 2004 saw  my biggest booking to date at Uproar which is one of the biggest and best Hardcore events in the scene,  ran by the legendary DJ Seduction.  This raised my profile considerably and helped me get recognition on a national level.

Other larger bookings included BPM in Cardiff (Wales's largest Hardcore event),  Planet Hardcore in Bristol,  Flashback & Hardcore Till I Die (Jellybeanz Arena) both in Birmingham.  I also gained four New Residencies playing a wide range of Upfront Hardcore and Old Skool.

This year also saw my debut in the studio where I co-wrote and produced two tracks with engineer (Matt Envy).  My weekly Hardcore Radio show also did very well with artists such as MC Wotsee, Adam Harris,  Lee UHF,  DJ Fracus and MC Smiley joining me as guests,  plus key people like MC Rude and MC Marley tuning in on occasions.

2005 is going very well so far and has included appearances at:  Futurebive, Velocity,  The Fruit Club,  X-cite, Re:birth, Rush House, Liquid Rush, Universal Hardcore,  Spunky, Obsessed, Quake, Hypnotic, Rizzen,  WWP Everdance,  Raverbaby Event 2 and Total Bedlam to name a few.
